Disclaimer:
I had a lot of angst through my high school years. Most of these images are from that time in my life (very old) so many of them are disturbing. Please do not view this as cause to worry. I grew out of it. :-)
Computer Graphics Work

  • The Spider's Home
This is a six and a half megabyte download so click at your own discretion! If you are restricted to an 8 bit color depth (256 colors) or less then don't bother. You won't be able to see a thing.

  • A Map For The Book "Maze"
The books full title is "Maze : Solve the World's Most Challenging Puzzle". It is by Christopher Manson who is also the author of a book titled "The Rails I Tote : Forty-Five Illustrated Spoonerisms to Decipher". These two titles are by far my favorite puzzle books of all time. The illustrations are gorgeous and the content is challenging, thought provoking, and original. To bad they are both out of print.

Earlier work:
  • Potted Plant
This is the very first image I modeled and rendered using Macintosh hardware and software. It's not much, but It's my first...
  • Mad
This is the very first image I modeled and rendered using my new PowerMac 8500. Strata StudioPro rendered it in under a minute! I know it's small, but still...
  • Book and Candle
This is an image I created on my PowerMac 8500 which is now being used for the CDC library web page. I would include a link to this page, but it is restricted to CDC people only. Sorry.
More current work:
  • Sink
Here's another one from me and my PowerMac.
  • The Killing Machine
This one took quite some time. Me and a friend of mine used to sketch machines like this all the time. We called them "walkers" back then. One day I felt like modeling one and putting it somewhere other than a white void. My design sketch for this project is also available.
  • Spice Rack Detail
This is a detail from an animation which I am working on. I'll post the animation when it's finished.
  • The Bulletin Board
Just did this one for fun. There is also a detail available of the image which appears pinned to the bulletin board. It's a very big detail.
Models and renderings done with software I wrote myself:
  • Todd's Utah Teapot
There are better versions of the famous teapot, but this is the best one which was created using only software which I wrote. This image uses shades of red ONLY so it is particularly sensitive to the size of your browser's color table and the "image color" settings of your browser. If you are using Netscape I would suggest setting "Colors:" to "Dither" in the "Options" -> "Images" dialog. On UNIX systems I would also suggest running Netscape with the -install option to make sure it is able to grab a large color table. The code for my graphics package is available for the X Windows system and for the Macintosh. If you are interested, please contact me.

Drawings
  • A Floating Yellow Dream
This one is pencil, pen, color pencil, and pastels. It was fun to draw!
  • They Call Me Sorcerer
I've always wanted so much to believe in magic. When I say this I mean the corny "witches and wizards" magic depicted in classic fantasy.
  • Nightmare's Window
This one can be a bit disturbing but I love the colors in it.
  • Maze
I sketched this some time ago while I was bored. Let me know if you can get through it! I wish I had the money to offer a prize.
  • One Armed Diver
The title says most of it. What if the kelp couldn't be cut?
  • Run Have Fun
Believe it or not me and my friends used to spend a lot of time running around in storm drains and any underground places we could find. We were odd kids.
  • A Hanging
I think of all the ways to go my least favorite would be to be hung. In this sketch I try to capture some of my feelings about this particularly nasty way to die.
  • The Dromotrop - Page 1 - Page 2 - Page 3
These are the first three pages of a comic book which I started, but never got very far in. Page 2 is my favorite of the three.
  • Art On a Chair
    Balance!
  • People Fall
Nothing more than a little role reversal...
  • Stabbed In The Back
And that's the least of his problems.
  • Reaching For Something Nice
    Aren't we all?
  • A Very Tense Moment
I think a situation like this would just ruin my day.
  • Geep and Wizz Page 1 and Geep and Wizz Page 2
These are the first two pages of a very silly "comic book" which I used to do back in high school.
  • Joe
I have no idea so don't ask...
  • Killing Machine Design Sketch
The design sketch for "The Killing Machine" (see above).

Paintings
  • A Portal In The Woods
This oil painting was inspired by the bottom half of the second page of "The Dromotrop" (see above under Drawings).
  • Illuminated Dental Hygiene
This is a dirt encrusted homage to the toothbrush. No deep message, I just droped it in the driveway...
  • The Great Midwest
I hate this painting, but I had to flush out the "Paintings" section of this web page and I don't do that much painting.

Direct comments, suggestions, etc. to todd@toddm.net. Thank you.
